Dishwasher Installation

Compared to twenty or thirty years ago when dishwashers were all alike, the modern dishwasher come in many varieties. Even in the past five years, the number of choices and features has rapidly expanded. It’s wise to give some thought as to the desired features before making a purchase. Sanitizing features high pressure spray nozzles and energy star ratings are just a few of the terms to know.

When it comes to color, dishwasher exterior colors come in Stainless steel, Black, White, and in very limited models Bisque, and in higher end models they are available with cabinet style fronts or custom facings. With tubs, dishwashers come in one of two styles, stainless steel or plastic. But color is just the aesthetic portion of a dishwasher. In addition, consideration should be given to the inside of the dishwasher. The size and number of items generally washed will be another concern when looking at the inside racks and layout.

The professional plumbers at All Star Plumbing and Restoration can provide valuable input when selecting a new dishwasher and can also help with dishwasher installation. Professional dishwasher installation is always recommended. Dishwasher installation is a potentially dangerous situation as install is a mix of water lines and electrical lines. Professional dishwasher installation also reduces the chance of a leak developing later on.

Home Owners Insurance: Having the Necessities

Home Owners Insurance is one of the most important parts of owning a home. As accidents often happen in the blink of an eye, having home owners insurance protects homeowners from costly bills and problems as they arise.

Typical items that are covered under a Home Owners Insurance policy include:

  • Dwelling Coverage: pays to rebuild or repair the home – electrical wiring, plumbing, and heating and air conditioning
  • External Coverage: garages, sheds, fences, anything unattached to home
  • Personal Property: furniture, clothes, sporting goods, electronics
  • Loss of Use: covers additional housing and living expenses when it is necessary to move out of house temporarily while it’s being restored
  • Natural Disaster Coverage: fire, windstorms, hail, lightning
  • Violation Coverage: theft or vandalism

Insurance also protects from incidents at home such as an appliance catching on fire, or someone getting injured while on the property. But most insurance policies don’t cover situations like floods and earthquakes, and in this situation supplemental insurance is often purchased. Coverages are also available for those who live in condos and mobile homes, and there are even plans for renters. Having a solid homeowners policy provides peace of mind as well.

Habitat for Humanity: Lending a friendly hand

Building a home for a family in need, is by far one of the greatest feelings we can bestow on someone. For many, tears of joy are not far behind. At Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit Christian program, their premise is that everyone should have a home that is safe and affordable to live in. Habitat for Humanity is volunteer-based and offers programs all around the world, in locations like Argentina, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, as well as throughout the United States. They offer short term volunteer programs that run one to two weeks, all the way through programs that can last from six to twelve months. Although many professional trades people like plumbers and electricians are needed, there are many volunteer positions where little or no experience is necessary.

With over 820 million people living in urban slums around the world, the demand for housing exists in nearly every community. Habitat for Humanity has also partnered up with AmeriCorps to help in providing volunteers worldwide, especially in times of natural disaster. For example, when the Haiti earthquakes hit, more than a million and a half people were left homeless. After the initial shock, volunteers from across the world came to assist those who no longer had a place to live, and Habitat was one of the first groups there.

No matter the need, Habitat for Humanity is there to help those who cannot afford it.

“A world where everyone has a decent place to live.”
