Water Softener Installation

Hard water not only creates unsightly stains, it can be harmful to people’s health. Hard water contains minerals such as calcium and magnesium which, when the body gets too much of these, can cause sickness and fatigue. In addition to causing illness, hard minerals can worsen preexisting conditions such as heart and cardiovascular diseases. Prevent this by letting All Star Plumbing install a water softener.

The pipes in the home also become damaged by hard water. The minerals can cause rust and corrosion. If it gets bad enough, homeowners will need to repipe their entire home. White stains on stainless steel that are difficult to get off are another indicator of hard water.

By letting All Star Plumbing and Restoration install a water softener in the home, the calcium and magnesium that cause the damage will be replaced with sodium. This is called a Salt-Based Ion Exchange Softener. There are also No Salt Water Softeners and Magnetic Water Softeners available. The professionals at All Star Plumbing can provide an unbiased opinion on which type of water softener will best meet the needs of the situation.

Not sure if you need a water softener or not? All Star Plumbing and Restoration can assess the water composition in the home to determine if hard water is an issue. If it is, they can install a new water softener, getting rid of potentially damaging minerals.

Interesting Finds

Plumbers all over the world find interesting things in pipes when they are called in to fix them. These finds can make the job interesting or at least amusing. Take a look at some of the most interesting items found in pipes.

Jewelry seems to be a common item falling into drains. Plumbers have gotten many a call about women dropping their diamond rings down sink drains, or having jewelry fall into toilets and getting flushed. Talk about an expensive plumbing call!

Animals, usually of the reptile persuasion have also been found lurking in toilets. Escaped snakes like to make themselves at home in toilets, making everyone terrified to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Alligators haven’t been seen in the sewers of New York lately, but they have been found in toilets down south. Now for a really strange find: A woman in Winnipeg discovere a squirrel in her toilet after her dog wouldn’t stop barking one night!

An older gentleman lost his dentures in the drain in South Carolina, and still used them after they were retrieved. And lastly, one man thought it would be a good idea to flush a plug-in air freshener down the toilet. It didn’t end well.

Getting Rid Of Mold

People throw out food when mold begins to grow on it, yet often let mold in the home go untreated. Sometimes it is undetectable, and sneaks in, potentially causing health issues and home damage. All Star Plumbing and Restoration can help get rid of mold in the home and make it a safer environment.

Even the cleanest of homes can be subject to mold. It grows when airborne mold spores find a surface with their preferred temperature and amount of moisture. Once it finds the perfect spot, it takes over fast.

Because mold needs moisture to grow, it can be a sign of excessive moisture in a home. Issues that can cause this are faulty pipes, a leaky roof, water damage, water heaters, sewers, sinks and showers. It one of these issues is causing the mold, even after killing the mold, it is likely to come back.

To prevent it from coming back and getting rid of all of it for good, contact All Star Plumbing and Restoration. With their mold remediation service they will determine what is causing the mold and resolve the issue.

Mold can be extremely dangerous to people’s health. If found in the home, it is best to take care of the problem as soon as possible. Call All Star Plumbing and Restoration day or night to get a professional assessment of the issue.
